The 4th annual Beavercreek Varsity Hockey Golf Scramble on Saturday, September 28th, saw a record 92 golfers come out to have a great time and support our program. We were delighted to not only see familiar faces–especially our returning golfers and alumni–but also many new friends! Moreover, as our big annual fundraiser, the success of this year’s scramble ensures our program’s financial strength.
On the competitive side, here were our winners:
- 1st Place Team: Brent Martin, Jeffrey Hall, Jenna Erwin, Ernie Erwin, with a score of 22 under par
- Longest Drive (Men): Heath O’Neal
- Longest Drive (Women): Gina Lloyd
- Closest to Pin: Eric Sutphin
- Happy Gilmore Hole: Max Szturm
Although only a select few won awards, each golfer walked away with a loaded goodie bag, along with a classy Beavercreek Varsity Hockey glass.
At dinner, attendees enjoyed the inspirational words of Coach Matt Tramonte, our BHS Legacy Award recipient for 2019. Matt coached Beavercreek’s hockey team from 1999 – 2008 and is the winningest coach in BHS history with 110 wins! With great humility, he spoke about the importance of character, his family, and how much his time at Beavercreek meant to him. Current Beavercreek players were there to listen and benefit from his words of wisdom.
In addition to our thanks for the golfers who came out, we are also grateful to each and every one of our wonderful sponsors. Big shout out to Bill Daniels/Dayton Pizza Factory for the lunches and detailed work setting up the scramble, and also to TJ Awards for the awesome trophies, mugs, and the other goodies. Lastly, there were many people who planned, set up, and executed the successful event–not easy to do. Many golfers commented how impressed they were and that they will be back next year. To all who played a part–well done team!
In conclusion–if you came out to play, thank you for making the scramble a success and we will see you next year! If you didn’t, mark your calendars for late September 2020 so you don’t miss out again!
