Creek opens 20-21 season with 6-1 victory over Sycamore

Despite only fielding eight skaters, the Battling Beavers kept the puck in the Aviators zone most of the night and won 6-1 to get the 2020-2021 season started in the win column.

The first period saw four Beaver goals from four different players. Freshman Alex Elsner started the scoring off assists from Thomas Bush and Ethan Webb. The second goal came off the stick of Junior Thomas Bush from Alex Elsner. The third goal was drilled home from Sophomore Own Huff from assists by Thomas Bush and Joey Donahue. The final goal of the period came off a nifty redirect from Senior Joe Bordas assisted by Thomas Bush and Ethan Web. Sycamore got on the board early in the second period, but was countered by a goal from Senior Captain Braden Cox assisted by Alex Elsner. The final goal of the game came in the third period from a sweet top shelf shot by Braden Cox.

Over the course of the evening, five Beavers scored off assists spread among four Beavers. Ben Duford and Ian Champagne split time between the pipes and stopped 19 shots over the course of the evening.

Beavers Go 2-0 in Sylvania

The Beavercreek Varsity Hockey team found success in two preseason games in Sylvania this past weekend.  The team–backstopped by solid goaltending–dominated in both games, with several players tickling the twine.

Sophomore Owen Huff was not only the first to put the biscuit in the basket in the Friday night game vs Perrysburg JV, but he added another goal to his tally later in the game.  Sophomore Joey Donahue was on fire with three points (two goals and an assist).  Sophomore Riley Hanson capped off the scoring in the 5-2 win with an unassisted goal.  Junior Ben Duford and freshman Ian Champagne split the game in net.

Taking what they had learned the night before, our players displayed some fantastic team play in the Saturday night game vs Whitmer.  Junior Thomas Bush scored a hattie, while freshman Alex Elsner rang up an impressive three point night (two goals an an assist).  Senior defenseman Braden Cox pocketed two pucks (including one unassisted), while Donahue added another goal to his successful weekend.  Duford and Champagne split the 8-0 shutout win.
