Over the 2014 Thanksgiving weekend the Battling Beavers went 3-1 to take 3rd place in the 18th Annual Frozen Creek Ice Hockey tournament at the Kettering Rec Center. Beavercreek lost their first game Friday morning Nov. 28 vs league rival Troy 2-6, but rebounded in the final game of the night to win vs Anthony Wayne (Toledo) 11-4. Beavercreek came back Saturday night to defeat Maumee (Toledo) 12-1, in a game where Jake Weideling set a Beavercreek High School varsity hockey record with 9 points in a game: 4 goals and 5 assists. Beavercreek then defeated Anthony Wayne in the Sunday consolation game 7-1 to take 3rd place. A special thanks goes out to all the families and friends of Beavercreek Varsity Hockey who put a great deal of time and effort into another successful Frozen Creek Tournament. And thank you to all the Beavercreek students who came out to cheer on the Creek Hockey team– It was great to see you (and hear you!) there!
The Beavers are off to a solid 3-1 start in regular season play and venture off to Miami University in Oxford, OH Friday Dec. 5 to play the Oxford-Talawanda Braves in the first SWOHSHL league game of the season at 5:45pm. The team then plays two more league games Saturday at 10 am at the Cincinnati Gardens vs Elder, and again at the Cincinnati Gardens Sunday at 6:30 pm vs LaSalle. GO CREEK!!
