Beavers Go 2-2 at Miami Valley Freeze Tournament

The Beavercreek Beavers went 2-2 this past weekend at the Miami Valley Freeze Tournament at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio.  Creek lost their first two game to Troy 3-9 and Findlay 2-7, but battled back to win their last two match-ups 6-4 vs Jackson and 6-3 vs Northern Kentucky.

Senior Jake Weideling led all Creek players for the tournament with 5 goals, 5 assists, 10 points and had 8 penalty minutes, while senior and co-captain AC Coleman had 3 goals, 1 assist, 4 points and led the team with a whopping 28 penalty minutes.   Senior Ryan Williford again played solid defense with an even plus/minus for the tournament and sophomore Ethan Green rang up 4 goals and 2 assists in an excellent performance with 6 total points.  In game 2 vs Findlay junior and goalie Brian Daniels broke the state OSHAA career saves record formerly held by Beavercreek goalie Anthony Dann (2004-2008).

Game 3 vs Jackson included a 4 point effort by Jake Weideling with a 3 goal hat-trick and an assist, goals by AC Coleman, Etan Green, junior Jack Belmonte (his second of the weekend), and an assist from sophomore Nick Martin.  Beavercreek had only two minor penalties in a well played, well disciplined game.

In the final game, a 6-3 win vs Northern Kentucky, senior and assistant captain Brandon Sanders tied a team record for a defenseman with 2 goals in a game, Ethan Green scored 2 goals,  Nick Martin and junior Jonnie Ives added an assist each and junior and co-captain Brian Daniels recorded 53 saves on 56 shots for a .946% save percentage.

Creek plays four games again next weekend beginning Friday night Jan 9 at 8pm vs LaSalle, Saturday Jan 10 at 8:30am vs Lakota East, Saturday at 8:00pm vs Elder, and Sunday Jan 11(time and opponent TBD) at the South Metro Sports Complex in Centerville, Ohio.  Come on out and support the Beavercreek Varsity Ice Hockey Team!
