Your Battling Beavers faced three tough opponents last week in their run to the playoffs. Creek faced Springboro, Alter, and #6 ranked Talawanda this past week in a warmup to this weekend’s final games of the regular season against Sycamore and Elder. Beavercreek hung tough with Springboro behind Junior Thomas Bush’s two goals, but fell 3-2 to a tough Panther team on Tuesday afternoon. The Beavers than took on the Alter Knights in their lone game at the Kettering Rec Center this season. Sophomore Riley Hanson earned the offensive hard hat with two goals in this hard-fought match that went into overtime and ultimately ended in a 2-2 tie. Junior goalie Ben Duford came away with the defensive hard hat against Alter. The final game of the week was a road match against Talawanda HA, the sixth ranked team in the state. This game started rough and ended in a 7-3 loss. If you ignore the first period, the Beavers scored three of the final four goals in the match. Senior Braden Cox started the Creek scoring in the second and Junior Thomas Bush put two Creek goals in the net in the third period. Junior Ben Duford and Freshman Ian Champagne minded the net against Talawanda. The Beavers are back in action Saturday night against the Sycamore Aviators down in Cincinnati.
