The third annual Beavercreek High School Varsity Hockey Golf Outing was held this past Saturday at Twin Base Golf Club. Seventy-two golfers took advantage of an absolutely perfect day and partook in the annual outing. The golfers were provide collapsible coolers filled with lunch that was provided by Dayton’s Original Pizza Factory, had chances to increase their odds at winning the 50/50 raffles by hitting the green on the Par 3s, and were also given an opportunity to partake in the Happy Gilmore Putting challenge. At the end of the outing we had two teams tied with score of 16 under par, but team HEDJ (John O’Neal, Heath O’Neal, David Keiser, and Eric Sutphin) won on the tie breaker by scoring an eagle on the highest handicap hole!
The golfers were then treated to an excellent dinner that was catered by the Twin Base Golf Club after the outing. At the banquet door prizes were given, 50/50 raffles were awarded, as well as the gift baskets from the Canadian raffle . Coach Gutterman presented Jason Culham ’03 with the BHS Varsity Hockey Legacy Award. Jason was instrumental in making BHS Varsity Hockey relevant by posting the most goals (48), most assists (44), and most points (92) at that point in the program. His awards include Rookie of the Year, two time Offensive Player of the Year, and he also was a two time recipient of the Eric Gartz award, which is given to the player who is considered the rock of the team. Jason will be nominated by Coach Gutterman to the school for consideration to the BHS Athletics Hall of Fame.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors and everyone else that helped make this golf outing a huge success. We hope that you all return next year for the fourth annual outing at the end of September 2019!!
