Beavercreek was back on the ice late Sunday morning for their third game of the Ehrnfelt Tournament, this one against the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets. The Beavers got things going at the drop of the puck and drew first blood with an early goal by Braden Sanders that was assisted by Mason Mikesch. The Yellow Jackets got a goal of their own later in the first to tie things up, but Creek responded with their second goal of the period on a blast from Alex Folga from the top of the circles, which was assisted by Cole Gutterman. The game stayed at a 2-1 advantage for the Beavers until they were called for a penalty shot with 3 seconds left in the second. Perrysburg converted on the penalty shot and the game was knotted at 2 going into the second intermission. Creek started the third a little flat, but snapped out of it and got a goal from Marshal Enfield midway through the period, which was assisted by Mikesch and Sanders. This was Enfield’s first goal of the season and he followed it up with his second goal of the season shortly after that on a shot from just outside the circles that was unassisted. Not too long after that Creek got their fifth and final goal of the game, this one by Gutterman with Mikesch getting his third assist of the game. The Beavers held on from there and won the game 5-2. Creek’s net minder Kevin Bovair was sharp and ended up turning away 22 shots for the victory. Unfortunately, the Beavers fell one point shy of qualifying for the championship game, but will have a chance to play for third place Monday morning at 9 AM against these same Perrysburg Yellow Jackets.
