Assistant captain Chad Peacock has been Beavercreek’s leading scorer this season, but he has been shut out the last couple of games. Peacock got his scoring mojo back and Creek defeated Troy 3-2 in the opening game of the Miami Valley Freeze tournament at Hobart arena Thursday evening. Peacock tipped in a blast from Joey Duford from the blue line to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead in the first period. The Trojans evened the game up in the second, finally getting a puck past Creek’s net minder assistant captain Gram Doherty for the first time this season, who ended up turning away 25 shots on his way to defeating Troy for the third time this season. Peacock got the lead back for the Beavers in the third making some nifty moves after a pass from captain PJ Kosir. The Trojans, however, got the equalizer late in the third and it appeared that this game was going to end in a tie. However, with 1:17 left in regulation, senior Shane Sanders picked off a pass from the Trojans and shoveled in the game winning goal. Next up for the Beavers is a 7:15 AM game against Indian Hills Friday morning and a game Friday night at 7:30 against Dayton Stealth. Sleep well boys!
