Creek Falls to Lake in Hard Fought OT Thriller and Takes Second Place in 24th Annual Frozen Creek

Your Battling Beavers played a tough Flyers team from Lake HS in the Frozen Creek championship match Sunday, 29 November.  All fans were on the edge of their seats during this contest as the teams were evenly matched throughout the game.  Junior Ben Duford was the Beaver goaltender and held Lake in check most of the game.

Lake HS got on the board with an early first period goal, but the Beavers held them scoreless until the third period.  Creek evened up the score in the second period when Sophomore Owen Huff drilled the puck into the net with an unassisted goal at 8:07 left in the second period.  The Beavers went up on Lake midway through the third period on a top shelf zinger from Junior Thomas Bush.  The Flyers evened the score late in the third to force overtime.

Creek started the overtime period with a man disadvantage due to a penalty and were unable to stop the tough Lake offense.  The Flyers scored on the power play to become the 24th annual Frozen Creek Champions.

This was an exciting game to watch and both teams can hold their heads high after this titanic struggle.  Well done Creek!
