Creek Hockey goes 0-2-1 On BIG Arena Weekend

With a couple “close, but not meant to be” games over the weekend, the Beavercreek Varsity Hockey team went 0-2-1 during BIG arena week.  The Beavers tied a tough Talawanda squad 2-2 Friday night Dec. 11 at Miami University’s Goggin Ice Arena.  Beavercreek’s Ethan Green scored on his first two shots of the game to put the Beavers up, and the Beavers fought off 51 of 53 shots on goal from Talawanda and emerged with a tie.  Sunday at the venerable Cincinnati Gardens vs St. Xavier was a 0-9 loss, but the Beavers rebounded Monday at Nationwide Arena and held a 3-0 lead vs Gahanna Lincoln for two solid periods with only 9 skaters.  Senior Jack Belmonte had a break-out game with 2 goals and a near-miss for the hat-trick on a break-away attempt, while junior Ethan Green scored and senior Jonnie Ives tallied an assist.  Sophomore Gram Doherty played very well in goal with 43 saves, but Beavercreek’s short bench took its toll with the team ultimately losing 3-4 in a valiant effort.

The Battling Beavers host Alter Friday night, Dec. 18 at 10:00pm on “Pack The House Night” at the Kettering Rec Center.  Plan on starting your Christmas break properly by coming out and cheering on your Beavercreek Varsity hockey team on what promises to be a fun-filled night at the rink!
