Domination. That’s the best word to summarize Beavercreek’s victory over the Sycamore Aviators Saturday night at Sports Plus. The Beavers were playing their second game in as many nights against a SWOHSHL Gold Division foe. Unlike their somewhat uninspired victory over the Mason Comets on Friday night, Creek came out with a focused purpose Saturday. Puck possession, tape-to-tape passes, and solid defense. That’s Creek Hockey at its best.
Like pretty much every game this season, the Beavers took a while to get on the scoreboard. They finally did ten minutes into the game when Marshal Enfield found the back of the net off a sweet pass by Braden Cox. A few minutes later on a penalty kill, Mason Mikesch squeezed in a shot in under the goal tenders arm pit off a clearing pass from Alex Folga, giving Creek a 2-0 lead.
The Beavers really got things going in the second. Enfield got his second of the night off a pass from PJ Kosir to start things off. Less than a minute later Braden Cox lit the lamp off a rebound from an Enfield shot, giving Creek a 4-0 lead. This was followed by a beautiful tape-to-tape-to-tape goal by Mikesch, that was assisted by Cole Gutterman and Tanner King. Also in the second, Max Pezzot got a power play goal on a nice give-and-go play from Cox. Mikesch rounded out the scoring in the second on another nice pass from Gutterman, which gave Mikesch a hat trick.
Creek kept the peddle to the meddle in the third and were rewarded for their effort with another Mikesch goal, this one assisted by Joe Bordas and King. Gutterman rounded out the scoring for the evening with a sweet goal that was assisted by Kosir. The net minding combo of Kevin Bovair (two periods) and Ben Duford (one period) recorded the shutout victory. Creek out shot the Avs 56-10 on the evening and that poor net minder for Sycamore was probably seeing shots in his sleep! Next up for the Beavers is a game on Sunday 12/9 at 10 AM against the Elder Panthers at Northlands.
