Beavercreek Beats Troy 6-1, Plays For Frozen Creek Championship Sunday

Beavercreek played Troy Trojans for their third and final round robin game of the Frozen Creek Tournament Saturday night at the Kettering Rec Center.  The Beavers got on the board midway through the first on a goal by alternate captain Cole Gutterman that was assisted by captain PJ Kosir.  A few minutes later, Mason Mikesch lit the lamp on a pass from Joey Duford.  Less than a minute after the Mikesch goal, Marshal Enfield went coast-to-coast and scored while getting hauled down in front of the net, which gave the Beavers a 3-0 lead at the end of the first.

That goal got Enfield going because he came up with a power play tally early the second off a pass from Gutterman.  Enfield struck again for another power play goal less than two minutes later, this one was assisted by Mikesch and alternate captain Alex Folga.  Later in the second, Enfield found the net again off a pass from Kosir, which gave Creek a commanding 6-0 lead going into the intermission.  Enfield and Mikesch (during the earlier game against Lexington) both had Texas hat tricks today for the Beavers, which is when a player scores four consecutive goals!

Troy scored the lone goal in the third and the final score 6-1 for the good guys.  Kevin Bovair was the Beaver net minder and he turned away 22 shots on the night.  The victory puts the Beavers in first place after pool play and they will play the Clay Eagles for the championship of the Frozen Creek Tournament Sunday afternoon at 1:40 at the Kettering Rec Center.  Come out if you can so support the Beavers!!
