In by far their best team effort of the season, Beavercreek showed their potential by dominating Centerville 7-1 Sunday Dec. 28 at the Kettering Rec Center in their final game of the 2014 Dayton Mayor’s Cup. Inspired by another FANtastic introduction by Jack Snider of the Beavercreek student cheering section “The Crease” and a rousing Star Spangled Banner rendition sung a cappella by the same, Beavercreek jumped out to a lead in the first period and never looked back. After losing Assistant Captain and defenseman Brandon Sanders in the first period to a dangerous and cheap check from behind into the boards, the entire team stepped up to contribute to the win with excellent hustle and effort from each player. Beavercreek Seniors Austin Coleman and Jake Weideling were named the second and third stars of the game while Junior Brian Daniels stopped 47 of 48 shots to be named the first star. Daniels, the current single-season Ohio High School Athletic Association (OSHAA) record holder for single-season Saves is closing in (with just over 50 saves to go) on the OSHAA all-time career Save record, currently held by former Beavercreek goaltender Anthony Dann (2004-2008).
