Beavercreek faced Sycamore for the second time in the Springboro Shootout on Sunday morning and for the second time the Beavers lost to the Avs in overtime. Creek was ready to go at the drop of the puck and finally were rewarded midway through the second period when PJ Kosir weaved his way through a few Aviator defenders and blasted a shot past their net minder that hit two posts before it went in. This ended a scoreless drought for the Beavers that lasted over 106 minutes. Sycamore responded late in the second period and the game was tied at one going into the second period intermission. Early in the third Nate Schivelbein scored off a nifty tic-tac-toe pass from Alex Folga and Mason Mikesch to give the Beavers a 2-1 lead. Creek held on to the lead and looked to be on their way to victory when with less than 2 minutes left in regulation the Avs crashed the net and got the tying goal . The Beavers had a power play at the end of regulation that carried into OT, however, the Aviators where able to kill the penalty and get a game winning score. Kevin Bovair was between the pipes for Creek and put together another solid outing, turning away 27 shots. Although it doesn’t show up on the scoreboard, the Beavers played some really good hockey this past weekend and hope to continue this good play when they go up to Strongsville next weekend for the Ehrnfelt Tournament.
