Beavercreek was back in action Saturday night when they hosted the Mason Comets at the Kettering Rec Center in a SWOHSHL affair. Another great crowd was in attendance to cheer on the Battlin’ Beavers, but despite this and the enthusiasm of the PA announcer, Creek started the game off a bit flat and the game was scoreless after one. Early in the second though, the Beavers got things going on a goal from Mason Mikesch that was assisted by Cole Gutterman and Max Pezzot. Less than four minutes later Mikesch got his second goal on the evening, this one unassisted. It appeared that Creek had the game in control until midway through the second the Comets got one past Creek’s net minder Kevin Bovair, making the game 2-1. The game held in the balance early in the third period until Chad Peacock scored on a pass from Mikesch and PJ Kosir. This game stayed at 3-1 until at a little past the 11 minute mark Braden Cox got one past the Comets’ goaltender on a pass from Braden Sanders and Marshal Enfield. A few minutes later, Creek got their 5th and final goal on a shot from Gutterman which was assisted by Peacock. Bovair was not tested too often, but turned away a number of grade A scoring opportunities by the Comets to help keep the Beavers in control of the game. Next up for Creek is a Sunday night affair against the St. Xavier Bombers which will be played at 8 PM at SportsPlus.
