Creek advances to SWOHSHL Tournament Finals

Creek played the Troy Trojans today in the second round of the Southwest Ohio High School Hockey League playoffs.  After having a first round bye, Beavercreek started slow, but finished off the Trojans 7-2 to advance to the tournament finals.  The first period scoring started as sophomore Carson Cox put home a power play goal.  Troy responded with a matching goal before Senior Captain Braden Cox drilled home an unassisted goal to go up 2-1.  Braden’s goal secured his name in the BHS record book for most goals by a Beaver defenseman.  The Trojans scored their final goal of the game toward the end of the first period to go into intermission with a 2-2 tie.

Creek poured on the gas in the second period to put the game away.  Junior Thomas Bush scored his 45th goal of the season and 100th of his BHS career on a top shelf power play goal to put the Beavers up 3-2 with eight minutes left in the period.  Sophomore Riley Hanson scored with five minutes left in the period and Braden Cox netted his second goal of the game as the period was winding down.  Beavercreek went into the ice cut with a 5-2 lead.

Junior Joe Bordas drilled home a goal from in front of the net with six minutes left in the game.  Carson Cox followed with his second power play goal of the game with about two minutes remaining.  Junior Ben Duford secured the net during this matchup and your Battling Beavers won 7-2 going three for three on the power play.  Creek is back in action tomorrow and faces the Alter Knights in the SWOHSHL finals.
