The Beavercreek Varsity Ice Hockey Team shut out league and divisional rival Sycamore with a 4-0 win at Sports Plus in Cincinnati Friday night Jan 23, 2015. Creek played a solid game both offensively and defensively and took the lead in the second period and simply built on it with grind-it-out hockey the rest of the game. In a great example of how well the players played as a team, the four goals were all scored by different players: senior Jake Weideling, senior and assistant Captain Brandon Sanders, junior Jack Belmonte and sophomore Nick Martin. Junior Johnnie Ives, sophomore Ethan Green, senior Ryan Williford and senior and Co-Captain AC Coleman contributed excellent defense to the win and junior and Co-Captain Brian Daniels had 34 saves in the shut out. Junior Josh Litz, freshmen Shane Sanders, Chad Peacock, Nick Belmonte, Bradon Sanders and Sammy Donahue all had solid shifts and showed impressive improvement in their respective skill and ability as new high school players. Junior and new goalie Scott Hergenrather did not see any ice time but certainly deserves a shout-out for all the work he is putting into the team.
