Beavercreek faced the Findlay Trojans JV team during for their second game of the Miami Valley Freeze tournament at Hobart Arena Saturday morning. It was an evenly matched affair throughout, with both teams playing a physical defensive game and both goal tenders playing exceptionally well. The Trojans scored late in the first period and held on to the 1-0 lead at the first break. The Beavers finally got on the board midway through the second when Cole Gutterman was able to beat the Trojans’ goal tender with a backhand shot off a pass from Mason Mikesch, tying the game at one. Early in the third period at the waning seconds of a Trojans’ 5 minute major penalty, Marshal Enfield was able to put the biscuit in the basket off a pass from Gutterman and Mikesch, giving the Beavers a 2-1 advantage. Unfortunately, Creek was not able to hold on to the lead and the Trojans’ were able to tie the game with five minutes remaining on a short handed goal. Ben Duford was back in net for the Beavers and turned away 14 shots. Next up for Creek in Miami Valley Freeze tournament play is a Saturday night affair against the Dayton Stealth JV team at Hobart Arena at 8 PM.
