Beavercreek defended their title and kept the Mayor’s Cup in their trophy case for the second consecutive year with a 5-2 victory over Alter. The game’s first goal came off the stick of Junior Thomas Bush and was soon followed by another from Sophomore Riley Hanson to put Creek up 2-0 after one period.
The second period started much like the first with two more goals by Bush and Riley. The first goal came courtesy of the two alternate captains with Bush scoring off an assist from Senior Joe Bordas. The second goal came unassisted from Riley Hanson after drawing the goalie to one side. This put the Beavers up 4-0. Alter got on the board with a power play goal. Creek went into the ice cut with a 4-1 victory.
The Beavers found the back of the net once more in the third period with Sophomore Joe Martin scoring off an assist from Freshman Alex Elsner. The final goal of the game came from Alter halfway through the period. The Creek defense and Junior Goalie Ben Duford held strong the rest of the game even as Alter pulled their goalie. Well done Creek!
